Tercer Mundo is the Spanish name of this wonderful film which had it’s North American debut at Cinequest 2010. It is a four year odyssey for the film makers Director/Writer César Caro Cruz and Producer/Cinematographer Ana Lucía Jiménez Hine. The film follows the lives of three Latino young couples in Chile, Bolivia, and Cost Rica. The common thread that interweaves their lives is a pending eclipse that will coincide with the Mayan eclipse of 2012. Each protagonist believes in a certain myth of what the eclipse means. Besides the actors the other characters in the film are the varied and beautiful backdrops of each country. The filmmakers have brought another side of this land, and the beliefs and hopes of its youth by mixing reality and fantasy.
