A Best Seller and now being readied for a movie, Kite Runner takes the story of an affluent family’s son, Amir, and the father’s servant, Hassan. They spend their leisurely time flying kites and telling stories and their bond builds into something very strong despite their separation of social class. After the take over of the Taliban regime, Amir and his father immigrate to the US and Amir is haunted by his actions of having abandoned his friend. To seek forgiveness Amir returns to his war-torn land, and the reader sees a first hand account the transformation of Afghanistan. Overall, this book is an amazing personal account of life in Afghanistan and the bond of friendship.

I could not put this book down, even though I was in France on vacation. The characters are captivating. You cannot wait to find out what is next on the journey.
